Terms of use

Every stake in Past the Post is virtual. There is no real money in the app: you cannot deposit, you cannot withdraw, and nothing you win has cash value. Balances, profit and loss, and Finlay's Fun Room chips are all pretend.

If your league settles up between yourselves outside the app, that is entirely your own arrangement. It has nothing to do with us and we take no part in it.

Past the Post is invitation-only. You need to be a member of a league to see anything, and you need to be 18 or over to have an account.

Your account is yours. Don't share your sign-in, and tell Ash if you think someone else has got into it.

Each competition has its own rules — how picks work, when they lock, how results are settled — and those live with the competition itself rather than here, because they change from season to season. You will find them on each competition's rules page.

Results are settled from published sources (starting prices for racing, official scores for football). Where a result is corrected after the fact — a stewards' enquiry, a scoring correction — we follow the official decision, and the change is recorded so it can be traced.

• Play it straight. Don't use more than one account.
• Keep your display name friendly — it appears next to your picks for everyone in your league to see.
• Don't try to break, scrape or overload the app. If you find a way to, please tell Ash rather than using it.
• Remember other players can see your name, your picks once they lock, and your results.

Admins can correct results, adjust picks and remove players from a competition where the rules require it. Every such change is logged.

This is a hobby project run by one person. It is provided as-is: we don't guarantee it will always be available, always be correct, or never lose data. Results depend on third-party feeds that occasionally get things wrong or go down.

We'll fix what we can, as fast as we can, but nothing here is under a service commitment — and since no real money is involved, nothing turns on it.

You can delete your account at any time from your profile. The privacy notice explains exactly what is removed and what stays on the leaderboards.

We can close an account that is being used to cheat, to abuse other players, or to attack the app. In practice this is a friends-and-family league — it would be a conversation long before it was an action.

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app. The date at the top is always the current version.
